Road Trip to Wales

We packed biscuits, sandwiches, crisps (we call them chips in Jamaica but the Brits prefer crisps), fruits, a variety of drinks and filled the car tank with petrol.  We were ready, my husband, cousin and me, off to the Brecon Beacons Mountain Range in Wales hundreds of miles away. Road trips can be great fun and the three of us were excited.

Here we were on the day before Jamaica’s August 6th celebration of it 53rd Independence Day, learning about the proposed merger of two of Jamaica’s oldest and most highly respected media entities – The 180-year-old Gleaner Newspaper and the 65-year-old RJR.

A Solid WROC

With the talk at every level of Jamaican society being about the IMF and the critical role the coming relationship with this institution will play in the country’s future, it makes good sense for civil society to understand more. Titled “Economic Literacy and Gender Budget Analysis Training Course for Civil Society”, this programme was designed to do that. Under the auspices of the insightful and forward-thinking Women’s Resource Outreach Centre, training was offered to 30 persons for a small fee and on a first come first served basis.
